Intro to Reliability

Workshop Duration: 1 Day (Wednesday, May 9th)

Reliability engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering field consisting of principles and practices to ensure that reliability, safety, quality and other organizational goals are achieved.

This workshop is meant to equip the attendee with a sound theoretical base regarding fundamental reliability terms and concepts, basic mathematics of probability and statistics, graphical tools for data analysis, failure mechanisms, failure mode and effect analysis, availability simulation and life cycle cost. Attendees will walk away with an increased awareness of Reliability Engineering methods, know how and when Reliability methods should be applied, know what software tools are applicable and understand the impact of Reliability tools on Maintenance Excellence.

The key learnings of the workshop are as follows:

  • History of Reliability
  • Introduction to Reliability Concepts
  • Benefits of a Reliability Based Maintenance System
  • Performance Measures
  • Definitions of Terms and Measures in Reliability
  • Introduction to Reliability Engineering Methods
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Failure Data Analysis
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance
  • Maintenance Optimization
  • System Availability Analysis
  • Lifecycle Cost Calculation
  • Problem Reporting
  • What Tool When
